Description:
This is a wonderful pair of early Louis XV brass candlesticks c. 1740-50. The candlesticks are in very good to excellent overall condtion considering their age and use. The sticks are vertical with no discernible repairs or restorations. The candlesticks were originally silvered and traces of the silvering remain on the underside of the sticks. (These would be the perfect complement to the little painted Louis XV commode that I listed recently.) !8th c. brass has a natural warmth that is not matched in modern brass--these sticks have been polished just enough to retain their patina; they can also be polished to a bright shine.
