This a great pair of beautifully carved c. 1970 Italian carved walnut grotto chairs. There have been several models of the grotto chair, and this one appears to be the best of the bunch. Notice the sinuous carving to the chair back, the quality of the solid walnut and the overall proportion of the chairs. They have been recently French waxed.
