Description:
This is a highly decorative pair of 17th/18th century-style still life paintings of birds and flora that date to the late 19th or early 20th c. The imaginary birds, together with floral depictions. are beautifully rendered. The paintings are long and narrow and retain their original stretchers. There appears to have been some restoration work as the backs of the paintings have been treated to a white over-paint; they are both in good overall condition, but showing a heavy craquelure. These guys would work well in a mid-century interior as they would add counterpoint and depth.
