Description:
This a wonderfully fun pair of c. 1940, Japanese late Meiji/Taisho carved wood and lacquer Shi-Shi (Foo Dog) lamps. The shi-shis are beautifully detailed with floating balls in their mouths and in the flaming pearls under their feet. (Not visible now, as they are permanently attached to base, is that the male is anatomically correct!) The lamps were designed by MJH Design and fabricated in California. The height measurement given above is to the base of the electrical socket; with shades, the lamps measure 29". Sold as a pair. Thanks for looking.
