This is the second of two Japanese Imari chargers that date to the Maiji Period, c. 1875-85. This beautiful porcelain exhibits all of the wonderful characteristics of Meiji Imari--deep cobalt, floral reserves, almost abstract shaped reserves, center medalion. The charger is in excellent overall condition without chips, flakes or cracks. The over glaze enamel is in near mint condition and is the gold detailing. I have listed these chargers in both the "Objects" and "Fine Arts" sections as I consider them to be works of Art. I love Edo and early Meiji Japanese Imari for the  flamboyant spontaneity of the decoration and the itensity of the cobalt blue and other coloration. Thanks for visiting.
