This is a beautiful early 19th c. English Regency carved oak Cockfighting Chair. The chair is in very good condition and it retains its original finish. I have reupholstered the chair in a top quality Edelman leather with patinated hammered nail head detailing. Cockfighting Chairs, which are sometimes referred to as reading chairs, were first created in the early 18th c. and were more eleborate in form. Some of the old and exceptional chairs are priced in the high 5-figure range. This little beauty exhibits great Regency Neoclassical detailing including a harp-shaped back whihc is further highlighted with the hammered nail heads. The original wood casters are present, one has lost part of its wood wheel. In all other respects this chair is in exceptional condition. Please contact me using the link below for further information, additional photos or trade pricing. I love this chair (of course, I'm addicted to antique chairs) Thanks for visiting.
