Description:
This a very unique period Renaissance writing table. The table features a central drawer to the front; the opposite side is beautifully detailed by a carved frieze of The Annunciation in Gothic style. The side supports are highly carved with carved Gothic masks serving as feet. The drawer retains its original lock; unfortunately, the key met with some misadventure at some point in its long life. The surface is old and wonderfully patinated; we have just buffed it with a hard paste wax. This table is reminiscent of the style of Axel Vervoordt, it is soulful, monastic, ancient-yet in excellent condition and ready for use.
