Large Tridacna Gigas Fosselized Clam Shell, II
This is a very good example of a large fosselized Tridacna Gigas Clam Shell. The shell is in overall very good condition with normal ocean weathering. The age of the shell is indeterminate; it most probably dates to the late 19th c. or earlier. There are a few minor losses to the edges which is to be anticipated in fosselized shells. The interior of the shell is in great condition with just a hint of pin showing where the muscles were attached. This eye-catching shell would make an unusual vide-poche, serving bowl or catchall. We have listed a second similar shall separately.
