This is a charming c. 1880-1900 English glazed bamboo bookcase. The bookcase is in overall very good original condition. The bookcase features a bamboo and woven reed structure with a pair of glazed bamboo doors opening to two shelves. The bookcase is very sturdy and displays the anticipated natural patina of a piece that has been in use for over 130 years. There is a small 1” x3/4” area of loss to the wovern reed covering; otherwise, all of the original elements are present. Victorian bamboo bookcases are very desirable and they integrate well into a number of aesthetics from Boho Chic to Cottage to Victorian to Marth’s Vineyard Chic.
