Early 19th Century English Segmented Gilt Carved Wood Mantle Mirror

$3,950.00

This is a large over-mantle mirror that dates to the early 19th century. This uncommon form of mirror features a carved gilt wood frame with feather carved and gilt elements segmenting the large mirrored panels. The mirrored panels appear to have been restored at some point in the past. The balance of the frame appears to be original, including the original gilding. The original intention is for the mirror to be hung horizontally over a mantle, but it could also be hung vertically over a chest or console. Although the mirror is neoclassical in form and construction, it could be placed in a contemporary designed space, adding depth and interest to the room.

Dimensions: 50”h x 40”w x 1.25”d
