Chinese Peach Bloom Water Pot
This is a superb pair of Chinese Peach Bloom water pots or jugs. These small vessels were used to hold water for mixing ink. The Peach Bloom glaze is a mottled, copper-based glaze, originating in 17th-century Chinese porcelain. The complex and varied coloration, which resembles a ripening peach, is notoriously difficult to achieve consistently and requires precise control of the kiln environment. The Peach Bloom glazed item were usually small due to the difficulty in controlling the glaze. Peach Bloom porcelains are very desirable whether they originated during the Kangxi Period or are later 19th century example.
