Art Deco Iron and Glass Chandelier, Attributed to Mueller Freres
This is a very good example of a forged iron and art glass chandelier that is attributed to/style of Mueller Freres. The high quality of the artistic iron craftsmanship which includes hand forged roses and cast leaves is further enhanced by the quality of the four glass shades and art glass dish. The decorative roses of the forged iron frame are repeated in the cast art glass shades and central dish. Although the chandelier does not have a Mueller Freres signature or mark, it conforms in all aspects to a Mueller Freres iron chandelier of the Art Deco Period. Muller Frères is an iconic name in Art Nouveau and Art Deco, famous for its artistic glass creations and exceptional lighting. Founded in Lunéville, Lorraine (France), the company established itself as one of the leading names in French glassmaking, alongside Daum and Gallé. As tastes evolved in the early 20th century, the Mullers adapted to the Art Deco style, characterized by more geometric lines and abstract motifs. They developed innovative collections and focused on producing interior lighting: chandeliers, sconces, table lamps, often paired with wrought iron or bronze frames.
The chandelier is in very good condition. There are three intentional holes just below the rim of the art glass dish.
Dimensions: 35”h x 24”w x 24”d
