Description:Excellent and highly desirable pair of Jorge Castillo Casalderrey (b.1933) Etchings. Jorge Castillo is a very well listed (Davenports, Artnet, Akoun, Benizit) Spanish artist. He belongs to the surreal movement. Since 1962 Castillo has divided his time between New York and
Barcelona. These etchings date to 1962 and are part of a series Castillo executed based on the series of engravings by Goya, and are one of his most important works. Castillo is versed in many artistic mediums and is known for large sculptural works. His works are shown in major museums throughout the world and he is considered to be one of the most important contemporary Spanish artists. He has been represented by the Marlborough Gallery in New York. These are etchings are of high quality, no visible damage (have not been removed from frame); in one of the etching one can see the face of Goya as if emerging from a cloud. The images measures 16" x 18"; the framed measurement is 22" x 24". They were framed in Geneva, Switzerland in contemporary gold leaf frames which are in excellent condition. Sold as a pair.
